We love watching movies at the end of a long day, ranging from the dramatic & intense to side-busting comedies that keep us laughing. Below are several categories of movies to choose from (NOTE: Some of these recommendations may not be appropriate for those under age 15).

Movies About Surviving/Leaving Abusive Relationships

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES (1991)

Fried Green Tomatoes is a 1991 American comedy-drama film directed by Jon Avnet and based on Fannie Flagg‘s 1987 novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. Written by Flagg and Carol Sobieski, and starring Kathy BatesJessica TandyMary Stuart MastersonMary-Louise Parker and Cicely Tyson, the film tells the story of a housewife who, unhappy with her life, befriends an elderly lady in a nursing home and is enthralled by the tales she tells of people she used to know.

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY (1991)

Sleeping with the Enemy is a 1991 American psychological thriller film directed by Joseph Ruben and starring Julia RobertsPatrick Bergin and Kevin Anderson. The film is based on Nancy Price’s 1987 novel of the same name.[2] Roberts plays a woman who fakes her own death and moves to escape from her controlling abusive husband, but finds her peaceful new life interrupted when he discovers her actions and tracks her down from Cape Cod to Cedar Falls, Iowa.

ENOUGH (2002)

Enough is a 2002 American thriller film directed by Michael Apted. The movie is based on the 1998 novel Black and Blue, by Anna Quindlen, which was a New York Times bestseller. It stars Jennifer Lopez as Slim, an abused wife who learns to fight back.

THE WOMAN IN WHITE (2018)

The Woman in White is a five-part BBC television adaptation of the 1860 sensation novel of the same name by Wilkie Collins. The series began airing on BBC One on 22 April 2018,[2] and stars Jessie BuckleyBen HardyOlivia VinallDougray Scott and Charles Dance.[1]
