About Us

Towanda Power was created by a mother and daughter duo in order to empower other women to live their best life.

Jill

Jill is the owner of BIG DOOR STORAGE in Menasha, Wisconsin and a certified U-Haul Dealer. When not helping others, she specializes in operating her chainsaw, log stacking, raising chickens and gardening. Her hobbies include traveling, natural health, running, sewing, cooking/baking and reading.

Jordan

Jordan is the owner of NarroWay Entertainment Film Production and Beyond Fig Leaves Sewing. When not producing fabulous creations, she specializes in sewing, raising chickens, outdoor homestead work and film production. Her hobbies include historical reenacting, dancing and baking.

Even with all of these fun facts about these women, there is more to Jill & Jordan than meets the eye. Together they lived through and escaped an abusive relationship with their husband/father respectively. Leaving the relationship in 2019, J&J were forced to learn how to take care of the “manly” jobs around their homestead by themselves.

From learning how to operate a chainsaw and outdoor wood burner, raising chickens (for meat & eggs), keeping up with house & homestead maintenance, learning how to perform routine and preventative maintenance on their vehicles, all on top of operating several businesses these women certainly have their hands full.

Although they are constantly challenged to learn new skills, Jill & Jordan understand how leaving a negative relationship can still have repercussions on their day-to-day lives. Through it all, this mother & daughter stick together, read Scripture and make sure to laugh every day. Jill and Jordan want to inspire other women who are striving to be self-sufficient, independent & powerful! Their passion is to help others navigate through all of the emotions from troubled relationships and the aftermath of finding themselves suddenly without a partner.

About “TOWANDA”

You may be wondering where the name “TOWANDA POWER” originates….

In the 1991 film, “Fried Green Tomatoes” starring Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker, the film follows four women as they overcome their personal struggles, including various forms of neglect & abuse at the hands of their husbands.

Whenever any of the women found themselves in a situation where they needed strength, encouragement or needed to declare their independence, invariably, they would use the word “TOWANDA!!”

As women on their own and/or fighting for their lives, this word kept them in higher spirits, feeling more powerful and it encouraged them to fight for what they wanted & deserved.

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES is one of the films that Jill & Jordan highly recommend for women of all ages, but especially for women who have experienced & survived emotional/physical abuse. Please see the above tab for other film recommendations from J&J 🙂
